Hello from Minnesota

Well, it's my third day in Brainerd. It's great to see my friend again. And been out shopping for two days, yikes, my vacation has barely started LOL! Kohl's and Herberger's are having great sales, JC Penny has a sale 'cos they are moving locations. If I didn't bring an empty suitcase, I would have gotten a great deal on new suitcases. I've bought Capris, slacks, sweaters at 50-90% off, so great deals. Got some jewelry too, some I will keep and some I'll give away for birthdays, etc. Every time I come to the US, I find so much more cloths I like that fit me well then back home. I gave up finding dress capris and here I got two pairs. Whoohoo. And I got one pair that was too big for my friend - she has lost some weight lately. I got this outfit back in May I needed some very nice slacks or capris, I tried on at least 10-15 pairs, none I liked, if they were too thight in legs, the waist got too big, etc. Now I have nice slacks and capris that I can use for that outfit. What a deal! LOL!

Before I left Norway, I got two Canon cameras from Amazon. The Powershot A720 is a combined birthday gift for mom and dad, of course it was missing its ENGLISH instruction manual, it only had the Spanish one. Geez! Just got off with Canon on their 1-800 number and they are sending me a new manual. Then my Canon 400D will not show in the LCD screen, only a white background and its information, but not showing what I'm taking pictures of. The camera works perfectly except that. I'm going to go to Best Buy in town and ask them if I need to change some settings to see in the LCD screen, if not, I have to check with Amazon. I hope I don't have to return it 'cos I worry I won't get it back or a new camera before I go home. Then my new camera have to stay at my friend's house until I visit her or she visits me. Wish my luck that it's just a small thing to fix and I don't have to send it back to Amazon. I took a chance buying over Amazon 'cos it's so much cheaper than back home, I save over 50% getting it here, due to low price and the dollar is so low compared to the Norwegian krone.

Okay I'm off. We're going to my friend's work picnic in a few minutes.
Have a good day!

UPDATE: There's nothing wrong with my camera. SLRs do not show the imags in the window screen like "point and shoot" cameras. It only show pictures after you take the picture. Did not know that LOL!

Butterflies in my stomach

Well in 4 1/2 hours I will go to the airport Torp in Sandefjord. My flight leaves 6:25am and the airport opens 4:30am, but they're some road work on the high way so we have to leave a bit early. Don't think I'm going to bother go to bed, it's already 10:30pm, and I got back from work 30 minutes ago. Will probably just take a nap in my lazy boy chairs. I will switch planes in Amsterdam, Holland. Then straight for Minneapolis.

I'm not afraid of flying but you're always happy when you land at your destination. I will go to Minnesota, USA, to visit my friend Mary Jo. I've known her for 13 years and it's two years since last time I saw her/visited her. It will be great to see her again. I have other friends around the US too but I don't think I'll be able to visit them this time. The dollar is low compared to the Norwegian krone but the tickets are more expensive due to airplane gas prices are high. We'll see how it goes.

MJ has internet, so I'll pop in and let you know how my vacation is going along. I'm just happy to relax and not get any calls from work. I'll visit MJ for 17 days. Then I have 9 more days left of my vacation when I get home. The rest of the summer I'll work at the nursing home.

Well, next time I post here, I'll be in the US.
Have great day!

The Happening

I went to the movies today for the first time in months and months. Can't even remember the last movie I saw there. LOL! I know I went to the city - Skien. Tonight I went to our neighbour town Bø and saw the movie The Happening. My town no longer has a movie theater. We used to have it at a house that has bingos, dances and movies. However, the children's movie club still shows movies there, and it's quite popular.

Okay, back to the movie. The Happening is a psychological thriller, I won't say too much about it to spoil the movie. But it's about a few people trying to get away from a pandemic where people commit suicide for some unknown reason. In Norway, it got great reviews, but I know it has gotten bad reviews too. Though, Robert Ebert gave it 3 out of 4 stars. It was good, but not as good as I thought it would be, so I give it a 7/10.

Decided to add the post to the labes area too, so if someone wants to read all my movie reviews they are more than welcome. When I watch DVD's I'll add a comment about them too.

If anyone is curious, I'm a huge sci fi/fantasy fan. I also like action movies, comedies, thrillers and a bit, horror movies. Not much into romantic movies, so I rarely watch them. LOL! My two fav movies are Pitch Black and Independence Day. I'm a trekkie (especially the Next Generation) and also a huge fan of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, and liked a lot Babylon 5 too. And not to mention, Buffy and Angel, love the humour in those two shows.

Okay, I'll stop rambling now.........

Seljord Campground, Norway

Two weekends ago, I went with my parents to Seljord Campground, where they have their caravan. They got a brand new Hobby Landhaus 2008 model a few weeks ago. Hobby is not at the moment making any more of these caravans until maybe year 2010. Mom has wanted a Landhaus for years and finally her dream has come true.

So mom and I built the floor for the front tent. Dad has back/hip problem so he just made instructions to us and cut the planks. Got some help at the end from a friend of my parents (and their campground neighbour who has a Landhaus too, but an older one.)

We are done with the floor now. When we get nicer weather, the front tent will be put up and cut the floor on each sides to fit. Then we'll start to build a porch in front of the front tent. But now dad has hired help from a retired carpenter.

Here's some photos.
Enjoy!

Working on the floor, my dad to the left.
The floor is done - the width of it.

Bows

I've started to do a little scrapping.
Now and then I will add simple bows and embellishments, wordings, etc. It will probably take some time before I'll managed to make scrap kits. But we'll see how it goes. A lot of scrapper makers are stopping to make free scrap kits now due to so many "steal" their creations and upload the kits themselves, so I was very uncertain if I should do this or not. But the thing is that there's always some rotten apples about. So we'll see how it goes.
Any way, here's some free bows for personal use only!
My TOU is added in the rar.file.

Photos, photos, photos...........

Getting a digital camera is great.
You take all the pictures you want
and then check them out on your computer.
Keep what you want, edit them, do what you want.
But then they stay on your computer, and stay and stay............
I got my first digital camera fall 2003
and I have not developed any of my pictures since then.
Until now.
I finally grabbed myself in my butt
and developed over 800 pictures.
Cost me a fortune LOL!
So now I have my latest vacation pictures developed
and a few other pictures.
Now, I just have to do the next thing,
put them in albums.
Yikes!
I also buy postcards when I'm on vacations
and I like to post them in between my photos.
So I have dug out the postcards too.
Not only I have to put my pictures in,
I have to find out where the postcards go,
in between the photos.
You'll know what I'll be doing the next few days.
Then on Monday, I go on vacation to the US (Minnesota)
and take more pictures.
LOL!

Hmmm

I can see I'm new to this blog thing.
A lot of things to learn.
And a lot of trials and errors.
LOL!
Right now I'm trying to figure out why my HOME page is being empty
and why I have to click on the side bar to see my entries.............
Oh well, I guess I figure it out soon enough or find a friend to help me.
LOL!
